Mental Health Stigma

I find it pretty funny that under pressure, I have no idea what to write about, but the moment I don't have a pen and paper my mind storms with topics. I have always enjoyed writing and quite a few people throughout my life told me that I had a way with words. I don't know if it's true, but if my words can help just one person in this world then I will be able to continue living a peaceful life. It took me a long time to get here. And honestly, I am still on my healing journey, but I have found that sharing my experiences with others brings me comfort. It brings me strength and it inspires me to continue my journey to heal. To heal from the traumatic events I have experienced in my life. To heal from the damage other humans have done. To heal from the pain, the sadness and the anger. To manage my anxiety and depression. To finally live a life full of peace, health and happiness.

I no longer wish for my anxiety or depression to define me. I am fighting a battle that many humans throughout our society face every single day. I am fighting for my self, but I am fighting to end the mental health stigma. I am fighting for more services and support for the members of our society. For us to have the opportunity to share our stories and use our voices. For us to have the resources and tools to regulate behaviors and emotions. To have education on mental health and the importance of it. To normalize traumatic events and what I mean by that is normalize that abuse is real. That sexual abuse is real. That crime and violence is real. That divorce is real. Death is very real. Sad events occur. There will be times in life you are sad, angry, confused, lost or feeling alone. Normalize those emotions, but offer us support and guidance to express those emotions in a healthy way. Normalize men being depressed or sad. Normalize not being okay in life because you know what? Things can always be worse, but I believe things can always be better. Normalize allowing to feel these emotions. Normalize life is different for every human in our society. Do not try to take away their feeling. No one should ever feel alone<3
