Bringing life into this world is supposed to be one of the best moments of your life. But, what people do not always tell you is the changes that come with bringing a life into the world. They do not tell you that you may feel sadness or even emptiness. How can someone feel these things when a beautiful life is in their hands? Often moms struggle with baby blues. And typically, the mother cannot explain why. Some mom's just feel sad. Other's feel emptiness or no attachment. There are people in our society that hear this and frown upon the mother. When in fact the mother is experiencing biological and hormonal changes. She is experiencing something that so many mothers experience and unfortunately some mothers do not get through. The stigma on mental health is strong, but the stigma on post-partum depression is up there in weight. Being a parent is the most honorable title one could hold in their life, but it does not mean it is not challenging, confusing and chaotic. The beautiful chaos is not always on the front of the cover.
I have been the mother who did not want to leave her bed. The mother that cried herself to sleep or in the shower so no one could see. I have been the mother overwhelmed at the grocery store and had to put everything back and leave. I have been the mother questioning if I am right for this position and I have been the mother who yelled. I am not proud of the yelling, but I have found gentle parenting and it has been such a blessing to our household. I am not perfect, but if there is anything this far I have learned in my journey, it is I am perfect for them. And you are too mama. You are a perfect mother and there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Seeking support and guidance does not make you weak. It does not make you unfit. It makes you strong. It makes you a good mom. You are not alone mama. The forth trimester is real and is challenging. But you are strong. And you can do this. I believe in you and so does that baby. So do those babies. You can do this mama. You are perfect for them mama.
