I am far from an event planner, but I do love to plan events! Obviously, being the mother of the household, birthday party planning falls on me. (only if you want it done right!) And, I am totally okay with this because I am mildly OCD and maybe, sort of, a little bit of perfectionist. Now, with that being said, heavily note that I am far from perfect. I am sloppy and chaotic and I do indeed make mistakes. I have awesome ideas, but some of my ideas fail. Okay, most, but remember we are all about MINDSET.
failed... Tremendously. Some projects look hideous. Some projects, I did not research enough. (once painted the tub with wall paint, our feet were white for weeks) Live and learn though, right? Some are more than Pinterest fails, but I never give up. I continue trying and making these events, parties, gatherings or whatever the best that they can be. The most engaging and fun as I can. I just want people to smile. To be entertained. To be completely and utterly full from the food I offer. But most importantly to have a good time and SMILE!
One of my absolute favorite parties was the Beat Bug Bash I threw for my 2 and 4 year old. My oldest was born in May and then my second decided he would come in May too, so now they will hate me for having their parties together for life. lol Kidding, I try to make them as solo as possible and there will be certian ones they get solo, but if I can do a duo party and they accept it- I will! Them being only 2 and 4, I was so able take full control of this. Little did my four year old know her request for a Beat Bug party was exactly what I have been waiting for. Not only could I entertain her guests with this theme, but our older guests would learn to appreciate this theme too. Because all in all, it was all about the BEATLES!!!
When I say I went hard...I think I went super hard. From the decorations, to the game stations to even the food, everything was Beatle/Beat Bug themed. We even had an inflatable yellow submarine for the kids to play on!! It was such a hit!! (can't forget the Beatles tunes in the background too!) The guests had the opportunity to sign a book for each of the kids and a take a picture with our adorable photo prop frame!
Thank you to Nessa's Sweets in Monroeville, for these amazing white almond and red velvet themed cakes!
As for the game stations even the adults were caught in them!
We set up an inflatable outdoor buffet and filled it with Easter grass (planned ahead, but paper grass, soil, etc anything really would work. I did not want a HUGE mess, but really would have preferred soil) Then we added some outdoor tools, shovels, bug catchers etc as well as hundreds of bugs. The children got to experience "digging for bugs."
The next station was top voted as number one. Build your own yellow submarine.
We provided Twinkies and a variety of icing and toppings for each guest to create their own yellow submarine. The straws were added for décor purposes and the guests took it upon themselves to compete for number one submarine! Definitely recommend this at parties!
The last station was a tattoo and crafts station where the kids created bug masks and headbands to wear at the party! They were covered in tattoos by the end and it was adorable seeing them all run around and play on the yellow submarine as "bugs" and with mustaches!
Although, I did not have a character appear at this party the kids are still talking about it. The inflatable yellow submarine we ordered off Oriental trading, and now we can use it in the pool when we go. lol The last touch of the party was this cute little garden prop I found and used it to hold candy for the kids!
